Canadian building technology
Why Choose a Mircom Intercom System?
Mircom is a Canadian-founded manufacturer with more than 30 years of experience in intelligent building solutions. Its TX3 platform is designed for multi-residential, commercial and mixed-use applications, with options for telephone entry, touchscreen directories, video calls, credential access, door control and elevator restriction.
- One entry platform: bring visitor communication and building access functions into a coordinated system.
- Retrofit flexibility: assess existing wiring, entrances and telephone infrastructure before deciding what can be retained.
- Resident convenience: support calling, remote door release and modern mobile workflows where the selected configuration permits.
- Canadian support path: specify a platform built by a Canadian manufacturer with established technical documentation and product support.

Mircom TX3 Video and Telephone Entry Options
Mircom TX3-T10
A 10-inch, full-colour touch video intercom for lobbies, gates and mixed-use entrances. Available functions include MiEntry mobile video and audio, QR visitor credentials, a built-in proximity reader, two-door relay control and elevator restriction capability.
TX3 Touch 15 Outdoor
The TX3-TOUCH-S15B-WR-A uses a 15-inch anti-glare touchscreen in a weather- and vandal-resistant surface-mount enclosure. It is suited to exterior entrances, exposed vestibules, gates and large building directories.
TX3 Voice Entry
For properties that do not require a large touchscreen, Mircom TX3 voice-entry panels provide durable visitor access for apartments, condominiums, offices, overhead doors and barrier gates, including high-capacity resident directories.
Available features vary by model, licensing, telephone service, network design and connected equipment. Coras Automation confirms the required configuration during the site assessment.
MiEntry Mobile Video Calling and Remote Door Release
With a compatible Mircom configuration, residents can use the MiEntry mobile application to see and speak with visitors and release the entrance remotely. The TX3-T10 also supports temporary QR-code visitor access generated through the app, helping buildings manage guests and couriers without relying only on permanent credentials.
- Live visitor video and two-way audio on compatible mobile devices
- Remote door release for approved residents
- Temporary QR access for visitors or couriers where enabled
- Traditional telephone, VoIP and no-phone-bill options depending on the selected TX3 design
Package delivery access
Mircom and Amazon Key for Eligible BC Properties
Amazon Key can give verified delivery drivers temporary, time-limited access to a designated building entrance so packages can be placed inside. Mircom states that Amazon Key works with its TX3 line and that eligible properties may receive the device, installation and maintenance at no additional cost.
Coras Automation can review the entrance, locking hardware and access-control arrangement as part of a Mircom upgrade. Property eligibility, program availability and final approval are determined by Amazon Key and Mircom.
Replacement and integration searches
Upgrading Enterphone, SES TEC1A, Akuvox, ICT or Kantech Systems
If you are comparing a Mircom TX3 system with another intercom or replacing an existing telephone-entry panel, we can assess the full entrance and recommend a practical migration path. A brand name alone does not confirm compatibility: wiring, telephone service, network connectivity, door relays, elevator controls, postal-lock arrangements and resident data must all be verified.
| System being researched | Common project goal | What Coras Automation assesses |
|---|---|---|
| Select Engineered Systems / SES TEC1A | Replace or modernize a telephone-entry and card-access panel. | Resident capacity, telephone lines, readers, door relays, enclosure and database migration. |
| ICT Protege intercom integration | Coordinate visitor entry with an existing access-control platform. | Available relay interfaces, event workflow, credentials, networking and the intended system of record. |
| Akuvox video intercom | Compare a SIP/cloud video intercom with Mircom TX3 and MiEntry. | Mobile calling, subscriptions, 2-wire or IP infrastructure, door control and ongoing management. |
| Kantech telephone entry / KTES | Replace, upgrade or connect telephone entry with access control and elevator security. | EntraPass requirements, reader and controller interfaces, elevator outputs, resident records and cutover planning. |
| Enterphone / Viscount | Modernize an older no-phone-bill, directory or telephone-entry installation. | Suite wiring, lobby panel opening, directory needs, postal lock, camera, calling method and phased retrofit options. |
No assumed drop-in replacement: we verify the existing equipment before proposing Mircom. This reduces change orders and avoids promising that legacy wiring or third-party functions can be reused before testing.
Akuvox, ICT, Protege, Kantech, KTES, Select Engineered Systems, SES, TEC1A, Enterphone and Viscount are names or trademarks of their respective owners. They are referenced only to identify systems customers may be comparing, integrating or replacing.
Intercom, Access Control and Elevator Integration
A strong intercom project starts at the door and continues through the building. Coras Automation can coordinate the Mircom system with electric strikes or magnetic locks, access-control credentials, request-to-exit devices, door-position monitoring, elevator restriction and automatic-door operation where required.
- Door release: unlock the correct entrance or gate after a verified visitor call.
- Card and credential access: plan built-in or external readers around the building’s access-control strategy.
- Elevator restriction: grant visitor access only to the appropriate floor when the building and elevator interface support it.
- Postal lock provision: coordinate the enclosure and Canada Post requirements for the project.
- Anti-pry protection: add a custom intercom locking bar where the entrance needs greater physical protection.

Mircom Video Intercom FAQ
Do you install Mircom intercom systems outside Vancouver?
Yes. Coras Automation serves Vancouver and the Lower Mainland and considers Mircom projects throughout British Columbia based on project scope, location and scheduling.
Which Mircom video intercom is suitable for a strata building?
The right model depends on entrance exposure, resident count, preferred calling method, mobile-video needs, mounting space and required integrations. The TX3-T10 suits many modern lobby and gate applications; the TX3 Touch 15 is designed for a larger directory and demanding indoor or outdoor locations.
Can a Mircom TX3 intercom call residents on their phones?
Yes, depending on the selected configuration. Mircom TX3 systems can support traditional telephone calling, Mircom MiVoIP and MiEntry mobile calling. We confirm telephone, internet and licensing requirements during design.
Can Mircom MiEntry show video and unlock the door?
With compatible equipment and licensing, MiEntry can provide visitor video and audio and allow residents to release the entrance remotely from a mobile device.
Can Mircom integrate with elevator control?
Mircom TX3 systems offer elevator-restriction capability. The elevator-control hardware, available inputs and outputs, floor programming and authority of the elevator contractor must be confirmed for each building.
Can you replace an Enterphone or Viscount intercom with Mircom?
Often, but it is not automatically a drop-in replacement. We inspect the suite wiring, lobby enclosure, calling method, postal-lock arrangement, door hardware and resident database before designing the migration.
Is Mircom an alternative to SES TEC1A telephone entry?
Mircom TX3 may be a suitable modernization option for properties researching SES TEC1A replacement. Capacity, telephone lines, reader integration, door relays, mounting and database requirements must be compared for the specific site.
How does Mircom compare with Akuvox video intercom?
Both product families can support modern visitor-entry workflows, but their architecture, mobile services, subscriptions, wiring and management tools differ. We evaluate the building’s existing infrastructure and required integrations before recommending a system.
Can Mircom work with ICT Protege or Kantech access control?
An intercom can often exchange door-release or access events with third-party access-control equipment through properly designed interfaces. We verify the exact controllers, relays, credentials, event logging and desired management workflow before confirming compatibility.
Can we add Amazon Key to a Mircom intercom project?
Mircom states that Amazon Key works with its TX3 line for eligible properties. We can assess the entrance and related locking hardware; program eligibility and final approval remain with Amazon Key and Mircom.
Can you retain our fobs, postal lock or existing electric strike?
Sometimes. Existing credentials, postal-lock provisions and door hardware can only be retained after their type, condition, voltage, wiring and compatibility have been verified.
What information do you need for a Mircom quote?
Send the property address, suite or tenant count, current intercom make and model, required entrances, calling method, mobile-video requirements, access-control and elevator needs, plus clear photos of the panel and equipment cabinet.
